Who we are

  • Founder and CEO

Bill Lam, founder and CEO of Longines Realty, transformed his early experience in New York's garment industry into a remarkable 36-year career in commercial real estate. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Bill made a pivotal transition into real estate in 1988, just as the market faced the challenges of the S&L crisis. Where others saw devastation in the depressed commercial property market of the early 1990s, Bill recognized opportunity, earning the nickname "Real Estate Doctor" for his ability to revitalize struggling properties.

Over nearly four decades, Bill has cultivated one of the industry's most comprehensive professional networks, spanning the tri-state area and reaching internationally. His extensive relationships encompass the entire real estate ecosystem – from brokers, attorneys, and architects to engineers, contractors, and interior designers. This deep network, combined with his vast rolodex of landlords and business owners ranging from innovative startups to national retailers and global conglomerates, enables him to create unique opportunities and solutions for his clients.

His signature achievements include the transformation of the seven-story National Machinery warehouse at 128-138 Mott Street into a thriving retail and commercial space, and the successful conversion of 195-201 Grand Street in Little Italy. A notable milestone in his career was securing and managing the 75 East Broadway project through NYC EDC's request for proposal process, showcasing his expertise in complex public-private partnerships.

Beyond his business success, Bill has been a transformative force in the community. As founder and president of the Council for Cleaner Chinatown, he spearheaded initiatives that evolved into the Chinatown Local Development Corporation and Business Improvement District. His leadership extended to co-founding the Chinese American Real Estate Association, where he served as president for six years, and later collaborating to establish the New York Chapter of the Asian Real Estate Association of America.

Bill's business philosophy centers on integrity, establishing win-win partnerships, and building sustained relationships. He approaches each project with customer focus and future-oriented thinking, adapting successfully to the industry's transformation through technological advances and generational shifts. At Longines Realty, he emphasizes old-fashioned values of honesty and hard work while embracing innovation and continuous education.

Today, Bill takes pride in mentoring the next generation of leadership, working alongside his sons to create new opportunities and maintain the company's reputation for excellence in commercial property management, sales, and leasing. His vision continues to shape both Longines Realty and the broader New York real estate community.
